V3 Foundation Bridging
The purpose of the V3 Foundation Bridging course is to enable participants, who hold the V2 Foundation Certificate, to understand the differences between V2 and V3 and to sit the bridging exam that will effectively convert the V2 Foundation Certificate into a V3 Foundation Level course. Successful completion of the bridging exam is a prerequisite for V2 Foundation Certificate holders wishing to undertake V3 training and certification past the Foundation level.
The secondary objective of the course is for attendees to be able to identify and exploit elements of V3 that would be of use to their organisation.
In the V3 certification scheme, the V2 Foundation Certificate plus the Bridging Certificate will be worth the same credit points (1.5 + 0.5), towards the ITIL V3 Expert, as the V3 Foundation Certificate itself (2 credits).
Due to the OGC's decision to withdraw the Foundation Bridging course by December 2010, ISEB (Information Systems Examination Board) has given more flexibility to service providers as to how many days they can run this course. As a result, we have shortened it to 1.5 days, and in turn the price, making it more cost and time-effective for students.
This 1.5 day course will provide attendees the opportunity to get across this new and revised material as contained in Version 3. It is based on the official course syllabus and is designed to prepare students to sit and pass the exam. The intended learning outcomes for the course are:
- Understand the ITIL Version 3 framework and the service-driven 'lifecycle' approach
- Understand the significant changes between the two versions
- Prepare students to sit for and pass the Bridging exam

PREREQUISITES AND PRE-READING:
Students must have completed the Foundation Certificate in IT Service Management in one of the previous versions of ITIL. It is strongly recommended that students spend some time re-familiarising themselves with the concepts learned in V2 prior to attending this course. We recommend the ITIL pocketbook for this purpose. This book is published by the itSMF and supplied on all V2 ProActive Foundation Certificate courses.
WHO SHOULD ATTEND?
This course is suitable for Foundation Certificate holders and forms the entrance criteria for the Version 3 Intermediate Certificates, which incorporates the Service Lifecycle and Capabilities Modules. Each course accrues credits towards the achievement of the ITIL Expert Certificate.
