V2 Courses: Nearing the End of the Line
17/12/2009The OGC has recently announced that all V2 courses will be removed by June 2011, following a survey conducted by itSMF International in June 2009.
With over 1300 responses, results of the survey revealed that the majority of the respondents (around 90%) thought that the availability of V2 products for more than 2 years was unnecessary. There was also a consensus that English versions of products should remain until the end of their lifecycle. As a result, the OGC have decided on the following cut off dates for all V2 courses:
OGC REMOVAL DATE
V2 Foundation 30 June 2010
V2 Manager Certificate 31 August 2010
V2 Practitioner 31 December 2010
V2 Foundation Bridge 31 December 2010
V2 Managers Bridge 30 June 2011
PUBLICATIONS
The V2 Service Support and Delivery publications will cease on 30 June 2011 but please note that printing may be only available on demand in the latter part of this period
Other V2 publications will also cease printing on 30 June 2011 - but availability will be determined on a case by case basis.
Language variations of each product will also be removed simultaneously.
PROACTIVE’S COURSE OFFERINGS
In light of this announcement, we are in the process of determining an appropriate time to remove V2 courses from our training portfolio, taking into consideration the demand and requirements of our customers. Most of the V2 courses have been removed from the public schedule, but have been available as an on-site option for groups of 8 or more.
Some of the V2 courses, such as Software Asset Management, are well attended at present, and ProActive will monitor this as we move into 2010.
