ProActive's Green Policy

ProActive Services has recently taken action on a long standing aim to adopt environmentally responsible practices and implement them within our organisation. There were a number of key activities we have undertaken to work towards reducing our carbon footprint.

Floor Space and Equipment

  • We have reduced the amount of floor space our Head Office utilises, and encourage staff to work from home where it is practical to do so.
  • We have removed some equipment and made way for new equipment (printers, faxes) which produce less emissions.

Printing and Print Waste

  • We have reduced our print waste considerably by using default settings of duplex printing, and printing in black and white, unless essential.
  • All our marketing material, business cards, and notepads are printed on recycled paper where possible
  • We are currently looking into ways of making our training folders recyclable and intend this to be in place by 2010.

Travel Reduction

  • We have developed on-line training programmes and promoted the use of webinars rather than face-to-face seminars to reduce travel and the printing of materials.
  • A donation to an approved carbon offset project is made for every plane flight taken by ProActive staff.

Support Real Projects

  • We choose a project from the Global Restoration Network’s list of “Top 25 Australasian Ecological Restoration Projects” and will donate $1 for every student attending a ProActive public training course within a quarter. The GRN has a list of the most outstanding restoration projects in Australia and New Zealand on their website, with an aim of highlighting projects that might inspire and encourage restorationists throughout Australasia and elsewhere across the globe. Take a look at the site: http://www.globalrestorationnetwork.org/countries/australianew-zealand/

These are all small changes we have been able to simply adopt and intend to continually build on these changes to make ProActive not only a great place to work for staff, but also an organisation that is doing something about the environment.
